Spring Ahead To Weight Loss
No matter where you live, winter can be a downer. But now, the days are longer. Spring is here and so is the sun. We look forward to warmer weather, lighter layers, and clothes that keep you cool in the heat. Unfortunately, these are the clothes that also show off your figure, even if your figure is not quite up to being shown off.
There is a freshness in the air and a renewal in the spirit. Though many people think that January 1st is the best time to start a weight loss plan, we think that spring is the perfect time for you to begin again.
Losing weight is more than just dieting; losing weight involves making changes that last a lifetime to keep the weight from coming back. Sometimes, people make mistakes in their weight loss that can hinder their progress.
Making the Cut
Cutting out major food groups is never a good idea. Unless you have allergies, cutting out dairy means cutting out Vitamin D for your cognitive health, calcium for strong bones, and probiotics, which are important for good gut-health. Cutting out bread and grains means cutting out significant sources of fiber that are essential for digestion and weight loss. Even fats are important for nutrient absorption and satiation. Bottom line: everything in moderation.
Knocking Yourself Out
Extreme exercise is not a good thing. In fact, too much exercise can lower your metabolism, lead to exhaustion, injuries, and even problems with your adrenal gland. The perfect movement is moderate movement. Get more activity, 30 minutes each day, and you’ll see results. And if you knock yourself out through calorie limitation while you exercise hard, you’ll cause your body to hold on to its fat reserves instead of burning them.
